Sketching the Sanctuary

Imagining a built environment that honors both the tribe and the individual.

The Question of Space

As the New Eden Project moves from philosophy to physical reality, we are grappling with a core design challenge: How do we build deep community without sacrificing individual sovereignty?

We have all seen the failures of the past. The suburban model isolates us in boxes, creating privacy at the cost of loneliness. The commune model often does the reverse, forcing a “togetherness” that suffocates the self.

We believe there is a third way.

A Concept for Living: The Pod & Hub

The sketch above represents one of the models we are currently exploring for our future home in the highlands. It is an architectural experiment in “Zones.”

  • The Hub: A central hearth for the community—the kitchen, the library, the gathering space. A place of friction, collision, and shared purpose.
  • The Pods: Private, detached dwellings that offer total autonomy. A space where the door can be locked, and presence is by invitation only.

Why This Matters

We are documenting these ideas because we believe the architecture of the future must be resilient not just in its materials, but in its psychology.

True connection is voluntary. By designing spaces that allow for radical privacy (The Pod), we make the choice to gather (The Hub) meaningful.

This is just one of many sketches on the drawing board. As we integrate regenerative agriculture, energy independence, and the unique topography of Boquete, this vision will evolve.

The work continues.
